Biologists -- Environmental biologists in the divisions of Air Quality, Waste Management and Water, and in the Department for Natural Resources assess the environmental quality impact of point and nonpoint sources of pollution.
Chemists -- EEC chemists work in the Division of Environmental Services, the laboratory for the EEC Department for Environmental Protection. They perform analytical testing of air, water, sewage, sediments, fish, chemicals and waste samples provided by the divisions of Waste, Water and Air Quality.
Engineers and engineer assistants -- Several EEC agencies use engineer positions in their central offices in Frankfort. The Division of Water uses them in the permitting of wastewater and drinking water facilities and in its dam safety program. Engineers are involved in permitting hazardous waste and solid waste facilities, as well as in the Underground Storage Tank and Superfund programs, all within the Division of Waste Management. In the Division for Air Quality, engineers are involved in modeling air quality emissions and permitting air quality facilities. Engineers are involved in the permitting of surface mine sites for the Department for Natural Resources.
Environmental Technologists -- EEC environmental technologists work for Air Quality, Waste Management, Water and the Department for Natural Resources. Environmental technologists assess the potential impact of construction, remediation, mining, reclamation or other activities concerning the environment. They develop environmental or energy regulations, policies and procedures. Some environmental technologists perform professional reviews of environmental permits, help develop environmental control programs or serve as technical advisors in specialized program areas.
Foresters -- Foresters in the Division of Forestry provide technical assistance in forest management to private landowners. They also enforce regulations and laws pertaining to forestry and provide fire control.
Geologists -- Geologists in the EEC compile data, prepare detailed geologic maps, perform special investigations as to mineral resources and review permit applications, permits and maps.
Inspectors -- Environmental inspectors are used to perform inspections of environmental control activities, facilities or mining sites for compliance with environmental laws and regulations in air quality, water, waste management and surface mining reclamation.
