Energy and Environment Cabinet

The Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet (EPPC) has been reorganized by Gov. Steve Beshear in order to provide better access to services for the people of Kentucky. The EPPC is abolished in favor of the Public Protection Cabinet, the Energy and Environment Cabinet and the Labor Cabinet.

The current Department for Environmental Protection and Department for Natural Resources will move into the new Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC). The reorganization also creates the Department of Energy Development and Independence, which will include the former Governor's Office of Energy Policy.

The current Department of Labor will become the new Labor Cabinet.

Components of the current Department of Public Protection will move mostly to the new Public Protection Cabinet.

“It” is on TV, the radio, in magazines, all over the Internet and in corporate advertising. You can’t go or look anywhere without seeing a reminder. “It” is the cool thing to be and do. “It” is going green.

Find out how Kentucky is going down the green path and how you can follow by participating in the Governor’s Conference on the Environment, Oct. 6-7, 2008, at the Lexington Convention Center. Leaders from government, businesses and industry, and local communities can choose from three educational tracks: Ensuring a Green Environment, Implementing Green Practices, and Building Green Communities.

Visit www.dep.ky.gov to register or call Natalie Jensen at 502-564-2150 for additional conference information.
