Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet

NEW star Click here for a statement from the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority on the death of Kentucky Derby runner-up Eight Belles.

The Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet is dedicated to raising the standard of living for Kentucky families through economic growth that is environmentally responsible and sustainable.  A healthy economy is fostered by a healthy environment and a healthy, safe and productive work force.

The EPPC is one of the most diverse cabinets within Kentucky state government. Consisting of four departments, the cabinet protects Kentucky's environment and manages our natural resources through the programs of the Department for Environmental Protection and Department for Natural Resources. The Department of Public Protection safeguards the citizens of Kentucky through the oversight of financial institutions, utility companies, insurance companies and agents, charitable gaming operations and horse racing in the state.  The Department of Labor promotes the importance of a healthy and safe workplace and workforce through education and enforcement in a fair and equitable manner to employees and employers. The department also conducts wage hearings and issues wage determinations.

The Division of Compliance Assistance (DCA) was created to ensure that environmental compliance assistance is available to the regulated community. DCA serves as a "one-stop" location where people can find answers to their regulatory questions about environmental programs and find an ombudsman that will look out for their interests.  Call DCA at 800-926-8111.
